こんにちは！アジアンビートオンラインスタッフの赤石夏海（なっちゃん）です。
あっという間にプログラムも後半にさしかかり、回を重ねるごとにキャストたちの仲も深まってきました。
さて、後半はいよいよアジアンビートのオリジナル動画作りに取りかかるのですが、その前に”Tree workshop”というアクティビティを行いました。
これは自分と向き合うためのワークで、アジアンビート独自に生み出したワークです。木の絵を描き、葉っぱの部分に自分の大切にしていることや心から好きなことなどを書いていきます。そして、根っこの部分には、「なぜそれが大切なのか？」「なぜそれが好きなのか？」を書いていきます。
プログラムでは、言葉による相互のコミュニケーションで異文化交流をする場面が多かったので、このように自分と静かに向き合う時間は新鮮でした。
自分の大切にしていることや好きなことに対して、「なぜ？」を繰り返していくとその根本にあるものが見えてきて、今まで気づかなかったような価値観を知ることができました。
ワークのあとは３、4人で自分の描いた木について話をしました。自分の大切なものや好きなものについて話すと、みんな目がキラキラしていて話す方も聞く方も自然と笑顔になるのを感じます。「人との繋がり」、「挑戦し続けること」など、キャストたちの根本にある価値観は様々で、コロナウィルスによって改めて大切さに気づいたというキャストもいました。
何よりも、お互いの根本にある価値観を共有することで、前よりもぐんと相手のことを身近に感じ、相手をより深く知りたいと思うようになりました。以前は、オンライン上での繋がりは表面的なんじゃないか…と思い込んでいまし。しかし今回のワークを通して、オンラインであっても言葉は片言であっても、お互いの価値観を共有し尊重しあうことで、深い繋がりを作れると実感できました。
このワークで話したことを意識しながら、「コロナ禍で気づいた私たちがすでに持っている大切なもの」というテーマで、ファミリーと呼ばれるチームごとの動画を作成しました。
参加している場所も時間も違う中で、どうやって一つの動画を作るの！？と最初は不安でした。しかし始まってみるとキャストたちの発想力や積極性に驚かされました！チームごとに、ストーリー設定から背景や音楽の工夫までたくさんのアイデアが出てくるのです。一人が自分の国の夕焼けの空を映したり、まるですぐ隣にいるかのように手を合わせたり物を渡したり…。本当に別々の国にいることを忘れるくらいに、みんなで夢中になってアイデアを形にしていきました。
一つのものを一緒に作る過程で、いいものを作ろうと自然と協力し合い、コミュニケーションが生まれるのを感じました。絵が得意、動画編集が得意、アイデア豊富など、これまで気づかなかったファミリーの得意なことや、魅力などをたくさん知ることができたのも嬉しかったです。

Hello! I’m Natsumi Akaishi, an Asian Beat Online staff member.
In a blink of an eye, the program was approaching the second half, and the cast members got closer to each other as the number of times went on.
By the way, in the second half, we finally started to make an original video of Asian Beat, but before that, we did an activity called “Tree workshop”.
This is a work to face yourself, the work created uniquely by Asian Beat. Draw a picture of a tree and write on the leaves what you cherish and what you really like. Then, in the root part, write “Why is it important?” and “Why do you like it?”
In this program, there were many occasions where we exchanged different cultures through mutual verbal communication, so it was refreshing to have such a quiet time to face ourselves.
By repeating “why?” for what we cherish and like, we were able to see the underlying things and to know the values that we had never noticed before.
After the work, three or four people talked about the tree they drew. When we talked about what we love and what we like, everyone’s eyes were shining and we felt that both the speaker and the listener naturally smiled. There are various underlying values of the cast, such as “connecting with people” and “continuing to take on challenges,” and some cast members realized its importance because of the Coronavirus situation.
Above all, by sharing the underlying values of each other, we felt closer to the other person than before and wanted to know the other person more deeply. we used to think that online connections are superficial. However, through this work, we realized that we could make a deep connection by sharing and respecting each other’s values, whether online or in broken English.
Keeping in mind what we talked about in this work, we made a video for each team called a family with the theme of “the important things we already have that we noticed in the Coronavirus disaster”.
At first, I was worried how we could make one video in different places and times.
When we started, however, I was surprised at the creativity and aggressiveness of the cast members! Each team came up with a lot of ideas, from story setting to background and musical ingenuity. While one person reflected the sunset sky in his own country, others held hands and hands things as if they were right next to each other. Everyone was so absorbed in shaping their ideas that they really forgot that they were in different
countries.
